The series was originally planned to span six issues, with issue #6 being available both from IDW Publishing and as a pack-in with Hasbro's Jetstorm and Jetfire toy two-pack. The comic book was even solicited in the November 2008 issue of Previews (for a release in January), but when the toy two-pack (which advertised the packed-in comic as an exclusive story) was delayed the comic book had to be cancelled, to protect the pack-in comic book's exclusive status. The story was eventually included in the trade paperback.
